Fishing

Fishing Fishing will be available every day for up to 4 people (or 5 if some are children) on our boat. The water is VERY calm, more like fishing on a lake. We encourage everyone to fish at least 1 day. Fishing is the biggest attraction in this area. You can go offshore for sailfish, marlin, dorado & yellow fin tuna. Inshore there are roosterfish, snapper, snook, etc. The area is especially noted for sailfish & roosterfish and someone will probably catch a marlin during the week. Catching a sailfish will be the highlight of the week for most people - sails have been described as the ballerinas of the ocean because they love to jump when hooked - a truly spectacular sight and you will be in one of the best spots in the world for sailfish. Please be aware that in the vast majority of cases, Costa Rica mortgages will only be available to legal 'residents' of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Facts

Costa Rica Located in Central America it has a surface of 51,100 km2 and it is a great destination for tourists. It is one of the countries with most protected areas in the world, since 25% of the national territory is made up by national parks, biological reserves, both on land and marine, as well as other wild areas. It has approximately 850 species of birds, of which 600 are resident and the rest are migratory during the North American winter stopping in this country and later continuing their trip, generally towards South America.

Viabilidad Ambiental Potencial

The Ministry of Tourism is lending weight to fresh legislation, which it hopes will radically alter the speed and method by which concessions for marinas will be issued.

Rodrigo Castro, the Minister of Tourism, met with politicians from the Legislative Assembly's Tourism Commission last Thursday to help drive through the new law.

The meeting, which included members of the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT), the Municipality of Santa Cruz and the Comisión Interinstitutional de Marinas y Atracaderos Turísticos, or CIMAT, agreed a draft for the new law, which will now go before a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly.
